Activities
Our current and planned activities in Azerbaijan range from curriculum
development and mentoring programs to field trips and seminars:
Vocational (job) skills development for a brighter future
- Information and communication technologies (ICT)
- Gardening and horticulture
- Basic construction and home repairs (carpentry, masonry, electrical, etc.)
- Toymaking and crafts (click here to see photos of dolls made by teens)
- ABCs of entrepreneurship
Personal skills development to break the cycle of violence and apathy
- Interpersonal communication and conflict resolution
- Gender roles
- Community activism and advocacy
Kid-designed and implemented community improvement projects
Services for special needs groups
- Inclusion of disabled, orphaned, refugee and IDP youth in above activities
- Coordination with international groups for the disabled, street children, etc.
Our activities in the US include the following:
- Fundraising to support the above programs in Azerbaijan, such as sale of
crafts made by youth in job skills projects described above (e.g. dolls)
- A Pen Pal Club to build friendships among US and Azeri children
- Educational programs for American children about their peers in Azerbaijan
- Publications for children about Azerbaijan, such as Exploring Azerbaijan
